KUALA LUMPUR – Umno and PAS have never made the decision to register Muafakat Nasional (MN) as a political entity, said its secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa during Ketereh Umno’s division meeting this morning.

He said that MN is meant to be a sort of umbrella body for all Malay-based political parties as well as civil society groups concerned with uniting the Malays, where they can come and discuss relevant matters.

“Umno party president (Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) had instructed (deputy president) Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan (Tok Mat) to not register MN in our meetings and discussions. Why should this be hidden? It will confuse people.”

Annuar, who is also the Barisan Nasional secretary-general, said the constitution and MN’s logo have already been drafted, but were never presented.

This is because, he added, Mohamad and his PAS counterpart Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Man have decided that MN will not be a political organisation based on instructions by the respective parties’ leadership. – The Vibes, January 2, 2021
