MALAYSIA and China have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations and expanding security cooperation as both nations navigate an increasingly complex global landscape.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the shared commitment was underscored during his meeting with Chen Yixin, who is on his first official visit to Malaysia this year.

The Prime Minister said both countries agreed on the importance of safeguarding the social and economic prosperity enjoyed by their people, while reinforcing collaboration to address emerging challenges.

“Our discussions also focused on bilateral relations in terms of security cooperation between the two countries and the current global geopolitical situation.

“This requires close collaboration between the two friendly nations to ensure the continued safety and stability of the region,” he said in a statement shared on social media.

Anwar added that the visit underscores the strong and enduring relationship between Kuala Lumpur and Beijing, with China continuing to play a key role as one of Malaysia’s closest strategic partners.

“May the progress achieved together by both countries across various fields continue to serve as a driving force to further strengthen the close ties between Malaysia and China,” he said.

The engagement signals a broader effort by both nations to enhance cooperation not only in security matters but also in sustaining long-term economic growth and regional stability, particularly amid shifting geopolitical dynamics. - March 26, 2026
