CHOW Kon Yeow has left it to DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke to decide when the meeting with former Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng will be to resolve the ongoing dispute over the new quit rent rates in the state.

The Penang Chief Minister and chairman of the state Pakatan Harapan (PH) Leadership Council said he was ready and had even prepared a report to answer the issues raised.

"I leave it to the Secretary-General to announce this matter.

"I have prepared a report, so now we just wait for what the Secretary-General will announce.

"I comment on this issue at every press conference, and it is not new to me," he said today.

He said this in response to his willingness to meet Guang Eng over the new quit rents, which is being arranged by DAP.

It was earlier reported that Loke would arrange a meeting between Chow and Guan Eng to resolve the ongoing dispute over the new rates in the state.

Loke was reported to have said that the party's central leadership was very concerned about the open dispute between the two leaders, which was deemed unhealthy and inappropriate, especially in the current geopolitical and economic uncertainty.

Loke, who is also the Minister of Transport, said that although there was a need to review the quit rent in commercial zones to ensure the financial sustainability of the state government, the approach must be balanced, responsive and considerate. – March 29, 2026
