PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to intensify enforcement efforts and raise service standards in order to safeguard public confidence in the institution.

In a Facebook post marking JPJ’s 80th anniversary today, Anwar emphasised that increasingly complex road conditions demand greater firmness, accountability and sustained efficiency from the agency.

“Happy 80th anniversary to JPJ. For eight decades, JPJ has played an important role in ensuring that the nation’s transport system operates in an orderly and safe manner, in line with the needs of the people and current developments,” he said.

He noted that JPJ’s role remains critical in ensuring a safe and well-regulated national transport system that keeps pace with evolving public needs and modern challenges.

Anwar also expressed appreciation for the dedication of JPJ personnel, commending their continued service marked by responsiveness and integrity.

“May this institution remain steadfast in carrying out its responsibilities for the safety and well-being of the nation,” he said. - April 1, 2026
