KUALA LUMPUR – Padang Rengas Umno chief Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz has rejected working with Perikatan Nasional ally Bersatu in the coming general election.

He said Umno will instead focus on strengthening its cooperation with Muafakat Nasional partner PAS.

Nazri today admitted that the government Umno is a part of is only temporary.

“We want the people to be given the power to choose the government they want,” he said.

He said that Bersatu’s recent actions, especially during the Sabah election in September, made it untrustworthy.

“It’s true, some people were offered RM20,000 to open a branch in Perak.

“If I’m not mistaken, there was a statement by its secretary-general (Bersatu) saying it wants to set up 8,000 branches. Can it be done free of charge? No way. To do that in a short time, you play the money game,” he said.

Nazri said that all the division chiefs are expected to meet party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on Wednesday to discuss these issues. – The Vibes, January 3, 2021
