King, Queen pay tribute to teachers as pillars of nation-building
Teachers mould ethical and competitive future generations, while the Monarch calls for greater protection of educators’ welfare and status in society - May 16, 2026

THEIR Majesties the King and Queen of Malaysia have paid tribute to teachers nationwide, describing educators as a vital force in moulding future generations equipped with knowledge, strong moral values and the ability to compete in an increasingly challenging world.

In a message issued in conjunction with Teacher’s Day celebrations today, Sultan Ibrahim and Raja Zarith Sofiah expressed appreciation for the sacrifices, patience and commitment shown by teachers in educating the nation’s youth.

According to a statement posted on the royal couple’s official Facebook page, Their Majesties acknowledged the central role teachers play not only in imparting knowledge but also in nurturing positive values among students.

The royal couple also expressed hope that the welfare and wellbeing of educators would continue to be strengthened and enhanced to ensure the teaching profession remains respected and capable of producing outstanding generations of Malaysians.

The message comes as Teacher’s Day is celebrated across the country, with tributes pouring in for educators recognised as the backbone of Malaysia’s education system and long-term national development. - May 16, 2026
