KLUANG – The search for Md Rajihan Junaidi, who went missing after his car was swept away by floodwaters at Batu 18 of Jalan Kluang-Mersing, has entered its third day.

The operation is being undertaken by 32 personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department, Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team, Civil Defence Force and police.

It is understood that the search is focused near a freshwater fish pond in a banana orchard about 100m from where Rajihan’s Proton Waja was found yesterday.

In the 5.30pm incident on Saturday, the 28-year-old was attempting to drive through floodwaters when strong currents swept the vehicle to the right side of the road.

Rajihan’s wife, Khairunnisa Ibrahim, 25, was in the car at the time.

He managed to break one of the car’s windows, allowing Khairunnisa, who is three months’ pregnant, to escape.

Khairunnisa is believed to be staying with her family in Parit Raja, Batu Pahat. – Bernama, January 4, 2021
