DAP will defend all the incumbent seats in the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections (PRN), besides aiming to contest some additional seats in Johor.
DAP Secretary General Anthony Loke said the decision on the actual number of additional seats is, however, subject to final negotiations with Pakatan Harapan (PH) component parties, which is expected to be completed by this weekend.
"The DAP Central Supreme Committee (CEC) held its monthly meeting last night and decided on several positions.
"Taking into account the dissolution of the Johor and Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assemblies and the PRN needs to be held within 60 days from June 1, 2026, the DAP 2026 national conference, which was scheduled for July 12, 2026, will be postponed to August 16," he said in a statement today.
Loke said the candidate selection process to represent DAP in the PRN will be determined by a Candidate Selection Committee involving himself, the National Chairman, Gobind Singh Deo; National Deputy Chairman, Nga Kor Ming; DAP Women's Leader, Teo Nie Ching and DAP Parliamentary Leader, Chong Chieng Jen.
Loke also said DAP supported the tabling of a bill to separate the roles of the Attorney-General and Public Prosecutor during the Dewan Rakyat sitting beginning on June 22.
"DAP is committed to ensuring the unanimous support of all 40 DAP Members of Parliament and calls on all MPs to ensure that the historic constitutional amendment can be realised," he said.
He said, DAP is committed to supporting the institutional reform agenda in the government and will campaign vigorously in the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections for PH's victory. – June 5, 2026
