A ROUTINE journey home turned fatal for a teenage motorcyclist when a collision with a car threw him into the path of an oncoming tanker lorry, resulting in his death at the scene on Jalan Sungai Siput, Lubok China in Alor Gajah.

The victim, identified as Muhammad Muiszudin Mohamad Yusof, 14, a Form Two student, suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, at 1.48pm on Saturday.

Police said preliminary investigations indicate that the teenager was riding a Yamaha LC motorcycle from Simpang Ampat towards Lubok China when the incident occurred.

Alor Gajah district police chief Superintendent Ahmad Abu Bakar said investigators believe the motorcycle struck the rear right section of a Perodua Viva travelling ahead of the victim.

“Upon reaching the location, the motorcycle ridden by the victim is believed to have collided with the rear right section of a Perodua Viva that was travelling in front of him.

“The victim was thrown into the opposite lane before being struck by a tanker lorry travelling from Lubok China towards Simpang Ampat,” he said in a statement today.

The impact proved fatal, with emergency responders confirming the teenager's death at the scene.

His body was later transported to the Forensic Unit of Hospital Alor Gajah for a post-mortem examination.

Police are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash and have secured additional evidence that may assist in determining the sequence of events leading to the fatal collision.

“Police have also identified dashcam footage believed to have recorded the incident to assist in the investigation, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

“Members of the public who have information regarding the incident are requested to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Loh Gia Xao, at 019-5382353 or any nearby police station to assist in the investigation,” he said.

The tragedy has once again highlighted concerns over motorcycle safety on Malaysian roads, particularly involving young riders, as authorities work to establish the full circumstances behind the fatal accident. - June 14, 2026
