ALL seat distribution negotiations between Pakatan Harapan (PH) component parties in the Johor and Negeri Sembilan State Elections (PRN) have been finalised.
PKR Secretary-General, Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh, said, PKR will contest at least 20 seats in Johor and 16 in Negeri Sembilan.
"I understand that the latest number of seats that PKR will contest in Negeri Sembilan is 16 seats, while in Johor, at least 20 seats.
"The distribution of the 56 seats in the Johor PRN has been completed; there was no fuss," she said.
Previously, PH announced that it would contest all 56 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats in Johor and 36 DUN seats in Negeri Sembilan.
Meanwhile, in a related development, Fuziah said that she expected the voter turnout in the Johor state election to increase compared to the previous state elections, which were held while the country was still facing the Covid-19 pandemic.
"At that time, many voters who worked in Singapore did not return to vote, but this time I am confident that the voter turnout will be higher.
"What happened in Johor PRN is not a yardstick for the next General Election (GE).
"If we look at the previous Johor PRN, PH did not win many seats, unlike the last GE," she said.
Regarding the emergence of Parti Bersama Malaysia and Parti Wawasan Negara in the country's political landscape, Fuziah said that Malaysia had long been dominated by a single political coalition before the landscape began to change after the 2008 General Election.
"A stronger two-coalition system emerged and provided a credible challenge to Barisan Nasional through the formation of Pakatan Rakyat, which later evolved into PH.
"In many mature democracies, a multi-party system is common. It is also common for different political coalitions to govern at the Federal and state levels, and this should not be considered unusual in Malaysia," she said. – June 14, 2026
