A FORM One student at a secondary school in Alor Gajah, Melaka, chased three friends while holding a box cutter after allegedly being bullied.

The incident occurred at 2.50 pm yesterday during a program at the school's open hall.

Alor Gajah District Police Chief, Superintendent Ahmad Abu Bakar, said initial investigations found that the incident occurred after two 13-year-old students and another 14-year-old are believed to have thrown ice cubes at the suspect.

“The 13-year-old suspect then took out the cutter from his pencil case before chasing one of the victims for about 50 metres to the school surau area,” he said, adding that the two other students ran away.

The situation was successfully controlled after a teacher managed to persuade the suspect to drop the knife.

He said that no injuries were reported following the incident.

"The suspect's family was called to the school to take the student home. The suspect is reported to be receiving treatment at the psychiatry unit of Melaka Hospital, with the last treatment session recorded on June 3.

"The investigation also found that all the students involved have a record of disciplinary misconduct since the beginning of this year," he added.

He said that the case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation. – July 10, 2026
