THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has reaffirmed its zero-compromise stance on security governance, weaponry management, and preparedness against Artificial Intelligence (AI) cyber threats.
MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman stated that security measures must be continuously reinforced to ensure the organisation's readiness remains at an optimum level.
"In line with General Circular Number 2 of 2024, State Protective Security Committees are now required to convene meetings at least three times a year and regularly submit self-assessment reports to Headquarters," he said whilst presiding over the second recent committee meeting at the MACC Headquarters.
During the proceedings, he reminded Departmental Security Officers and Assistant Departmental Security Officers to adhere strictly to Clause 32 of the Security Directive (Revision and Amendment 2017).
According to the Chief Commissioner, such compliance encompasses the safeguarding of classified documents, conducting periodic physical inspections of premises, and organising awareness briefings in collaboration with the Chief Government Security Office.
"The Security Division and the Weaponry Section must also tighten storage systems as well as the registry for the movement of weapons, without allowing any leniency in the established procedures," he added.
He emphasised the importance of well-being amongst the staff to maintain operational efficiency.
"MACC personnel must cultivate a healthy lifestyle to ensure their physical and mental readiness remains at an optimum level, particularly when executing enforcement duties in the field and attending court proceedings," he said.
In addressing the evolution of increasingly complex digital crimes, he instructed the MACC Security Division, alongside the Record and Information Management Division, to enhance digital forensic capabilities. This initiative will focus on identifying deepfake manipulations, voice clones, and document fraud utilised by criminals.
"MACC personnel are also urged to ethically exploit AI technology to bolster data analysis and expedite the detection of suspicious financial transactions," he said.
Also in attendance were the Deputy Chief Commissioner (Management and Professionalism), Datuk Junipah Wandi, in her capacity as the Headquarters Departmental Security Officer, and the Director of the MACC Security Division, Hishammudin Mohammed Esa. - July 17, 2026
