KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysians interested in getting the Covid-19 vaccine can do so soon by registering themselves via the MySejahtera application.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the Covid-19 vaccination will be voluntary and the MySejahtera application will have a sign-up feature.
He added that the Health Ministry will be monitoring the adverse or side effects of the Covid-19 vaccine for the first few years.
The public is encouraged to report any side effects on MySejahtera.
At the same time, the minister said a recent online survey by the Health Ministry has found that the acceptance rate for the vaccine stands at 67%, with a significant number of Malaysians remaining unsure if they want to take the jab.
Khairy said Putrajaya will employ various communication strategies to win these individuals over.
“We are targeting fence-sitters with various communications strategies to ensure that people are comfortable with the safety, efficacy and ‘halalness’ of the vaccine. One of the areas that we need to boost their confidence on is procurement.
“I don’t want them to question the procurement. That creates doubt. That’s why it is important that I come here today (to disclose to the Public Accounts Committee on the vaccine procurement and deployment) with (Health Minister) Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba to reveal the actual contracts.”
However, both PAC and Khairy said Putrajaya has signed non-disclosure agreements with pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer and AstraZeneca. – The Vibes, January 5, 2021
