TWO teenage girls were killed after the motorcycle they were riding was involved in a multi-vehicle collision along Jalan Padang Tembak on Sunday evening.
Hilir Perak Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Chua Kok Lian said police received a report on the incident at about 6.35 pm.
Preliminary investigations found that the crash is believed to have occurred when a car driven by a 28-year-old man lost control while attempting to overtake another vehicle.
The vehicle then collided with a motorcycle, another car travelling ahead and a young boy who was standing by the roadside.
"As a result of the accident, two teenage girls who were the rider and pillion passenger of the motorcycle were pronounced dead at the scene.
"The 28-year-old car driver and a young boy were taken to Hospital Teluk Intan for treatment," he said in a statement.
Chua said the driver has been detained to assist investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the accident or has information related to the incident to contact Traffic Investigating Officer Inspector Mohd Amirrudin Shafiei on 013-9126959 or report to the nearest police station to assist with the investigation. - July 27, 2026
