NEGERI Sembilan caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has urged authorities to take immediate action against any party making statements deemed disrespectful towards the royal institution.
He stressed that the monarchy remained a respected symbol among Malaysians regardless of race or religion and should not be used as a subject of political controversy or exploited during election campaigns.
Aminuddin said he was deeply disappointed by recent remarks made by certain individuals against the Negeri Sembilan royal institution, including statements circulated on social media.
"This matter requires firm action by the security authorities, and it must be demonstrated immediately.
"We do not want action to be taken only after the election, as this could affect the dignity and integrity of the royal institution itself," he said.
He was speaking to reporters after attending a meet-and-greet session between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and leaders of Negeri Sembilan's Village Development and Security Committees (JPKK).
Earlier, the Negeri Sembilan Palace called on all political parties to refrain from involving the royal institution in speeches and campaigning during the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election.
Royal Comptroller of Istana Negeri Sembilan Datuk Azizi Mohamad Ali said the palace maintained that the royal institution upheld the principle of neutrality and was not involved with any political party or political activities.
The palace also advised all contesting candidates to avoid exploiting issues related to religion, race and royalty — commonly referred to as the 3R issues — and to conduct their campaigns responsibly, ethically and in accordance with the law to preserve harmony in the state.
Meanwhile, Aminuddin criticised attempts by certain parties to raise racial issues during the state election campaign.
"Such elements have no place in the hearts of the people. Only a small number of individuals who have gone too far believe these issues can be exploited.
"They are using these issues as a tool, claiming that they can increase Malay support for their party," he said. - July 27, 2026
