DEPUTY Prime Minister II Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has successfully undergone heart bypass surgery at the National Heart Institute (IJN), his office said on Friday.

The surgery was performed on Wednesday, Aug 12, according to a statement issued by the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, which is also responsible for Energy Transition and Water Transformation.

“Alhamdulillah, Fadillah successfully underwent heart bypass surgery at IJN on Wednesday, Aug 12, 2026. He and his family extend their highest appreciation to the IJN medical team for their commitment, expertise and professional care throughout his treatment.

“They also wish to express their deepest gratitude to the ministry, mosques, suraus, houses of worship, government and private agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), relatives, friends and all Malaysians who have continuously prayed for his recovery and offered their support,” the statement said.

Fadillah was admitted to IJN on July 28 and underwent a coronary angiogram the following day.

Following discussions among a multidisciplinary medical team, coronary artery bypass surgery was determined to be the most appropriate form of treatment for him. - August 15, 2026
