A CROWD of supporters was waiting outside the court complex today as former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob walked out after bail was posted for him.
His son posted the RM300,000 bail for the 66-year-old Bera MP.
Ismail Sabri did not comment on the charge against him when approached by reporters, saying the matter would be dealt with by his lawyer, Datuk Amer Hamzah Arshad, and his legal team.
He briefly answered “Yes” when asked whether he was in good health.
Before leaving, Ismail Sabri stopped to greet supporters and shook hands with several of them.
The group had travelled from Bera and waited for more than two hours outside the court complex lobby.
Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and former Pahang Menteri Besar Tan Sri Adnan Yaakob were also among those at the court.
Ismail Sabri was surrounded by supporters as he walked towards his car after leaving the complex.
Earlier today, the former Umno leader was charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court with failing to comply with a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) notice requiring him to declare his assets.
Ismail Sabri leaded not guilty after the charge was read before Judge Suzana Hussin.
"I understand, plead not guilty and ask to be tried," he said.
The Bera MP was charged under Section 36(2) of the MACC Act with failing to comply with the terms of an asset declaration notice from the anti-graft agency.
According to the charge, Ismail Sabri allegedly failed to comply with an MACC notice requiring him to declare assets comprising RM14,772,150, S$6,132,350, US$1,461,400, CHF3 million, €12,164,150, ¥363 million, £50,250, NZ$44,600, AED34.75 million and A$352,850.
The assets also included a 5kg Suisse fine gold bar, a 100g Suisse fine silver bar and a 5g 999-gold coin.

Ismail Sabri was summoned several times to record statements regarding his asset declarations made to the MACC.
During the investigation, the MACC also seized cash totalling RM170 million in various foreign currencies in addition to confiscating 16 kilograms of pure gold bars estimated to be worth RM7 million.
The seizure took place during a search of a residence and office believed to be a 'safe house', following an investigation into four senior officers of Ismail Sabri who were arrested in February 2025. - August 27, 2026
