POLICE have arrested four local men after a 29-year-old man was seriously injured in a weapon attack involving several men he reportedly knew in Taman Sitiawan in Kajang, Selangor early Saturday morning.
Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Datuk Nazlon Abdul Yusof said police received a report at 2.28am yesterday that the victim had been attacked with a sharp weapon by several acquaintances.
He said the victim sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Kajang Hospital.
"Police subsequently launched an investigation and arrested four local men aged between 20 and 30 in the Kajang area."
Nazlon said all four suspects had previous criminal records and had been remanded for four days until September 2 to assist investigations under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and Section 148 for possessing weapons or dangerous articles during a riot.
"Preliminary urine tests showed that one of the suspects tested positive for methamphetamine, so the police are also investigating him for suspected drug abuse under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952."
He said police were conducting a thorough investigation to establish the motive behind the attack and identify and track down other individuals believed to be involved.
Police have urged anyone with information to come forward and assist the investigation.
