DEPUTY Prime Minister II Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusoff returned to the weekly Cabinet meeting on Wednesday after undergoing heart bypass surgery, but will remain on medical leave until Sept 27 on the advice of specialists at the National Heart Institute (IJN).
The minister said the decision followed a period of rest after the surgery and expressed appreciation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and fellow Cabinet members for their concern, prayers and support during the treatment.
“Alhamdulillah, today I had the opportunity to attend the Cabinet meeting again after undergoing heart bypass surgery and resting throughout my medical leave.
“I am very grateful and happy to be back with my Cabinet colleagues at today’s meeting,” the minister said in a statement.
However, the minister said he would continue his medical leave until Sept 27 as advised by the National Heart Institute specialists.
“Throughout this period, Insya-Allah, I will only attend Cabinet meetings physically,” he said.
The minister also expressed hope that all members of the Government would be blessed with good health and continued well-being as they carried out their responsibilities. - September 9, 2026
