A MAGNITUDE 6.3 earthquake struck the Java Sea at 5.23am today, with its epicentre about 117 kilometres north of Jakarta, Indonesia, at a depth of 378 kilometres.

MetMalaysia, in a Facebook post, said the earthquake occurred at coordinates 5.1 degrees South and 106.8 degrees East.

“Malaysia is not at risk of a tsunami,” MetMalaysia said. - September 12, 2026
