A WOMAN in Gua Musang did not expect that the gold bangle she bought 20 years ago for about RM2,000 would now yield a handsome return when she successfully sold it for almost RM18,000.
Hasnah Deraman, 54, said that the decision to purchase gold was made as a form of long-term savings in addition to ensuring that the money she owned was not quickly spent.
She said that the increasing value of gold provided a profit of almost RM16,000 compared to the price when it was purchased.
“I bought a gold bangle for around RM2,000 and weighing 35 grams, about 20 years ago. At that time, the current price of gold was less than RM100 per gram.
“When I sold the bangle yesterday, the current price of gold was RM549 per gram. I did not expect that when it was sold now, its value would reach RM17,900.
“For me, this is one of the advantages of buying gold because its value can increase over a long period of time,” she told Kosmo!
Hasnah said that the experience proved that buying gold can be an option for those who want to build savings for future use.
She said that she also advised women to buy gold according to their own means, even if it is a small amount.
"The practice of buying gold becomes a form of investment for use during times of emergency or difficulty in the future.
"There is no need to wait to have a lot of money; instead, start with what you have and make it a long-term savings instead of saving cash," she said. – September 12, 2026
