A 30-YEAR-OLD Honda Civic driver who crashed into three vehicles at a traffic-light Junction Kuala Lumpur tested positive for four types of drugs.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the crash occurred at about 3.50pm the previous day in Jalan Kampung Bandar Dalam.
He said footage of the incident later went viral on Threads, prompting the department to trace all the vehicles involved.
“All car drivers were asked to come to the police station to lodge reports.
“Initial investigations found that the 30-year-old local man driving the Honda Civic lost control of his vehicle, causing it to crash and hit three other vehicles,” he said in a statement today.
Mohd Zamzuri said the crash was believed to have been caused by the Honda Civic driver losing control of the vehicle and allegedly driving recklessly.
The three vehicles hit were a Proton Saga driven by a 46-year-old Algerian man, a Nissan Almera driven by a 46-year-old local woman and another Honda Civic driven by a 51-year-old local woman.
No injuries were reported.
Mohd Zamzuri said the Honda Civic driver went to the police station and lodged a report at 10.39pm the previous night.
“His breathalyser test was negative for alcohol.
“However, a urine screening conducted by the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division found that the driver tested positive for benzodiazepines, methamphetamine, ketamine and amphetamine,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, with further investigations ongoing.
