THE sanctity and security of Mecca al-Mukarramah and Madinah al-Munawwarah must remain protected from any form of conflict, threat or military action, regardless of its source, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.
Zahid, who is also UMNO president, said he strongly rejected and condemned any action that could threaten civilians, Hajj and Umrah pilgrims or the sanctity of the “two tanah Haram” referring to the two holy cities.
“I strongly reject and condemn any action that could threaten the safety of civilians, Hajj and Umrah pilgrims and the guests of Allah, or tarnish the sanctity of the two holy places,” he said in a statement today..
He said Malaysia respected the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia, while valuing the longstanding fraternal ties between the two countries.
“Regardless of how serious political or military disputes may be, the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques should never be turned into a battlefield or used as a bargaining chip,” he said.
Zahid also called on Muslims to unite in solidarity to protect the sanctity of the two holy cities, transcending political differences and national borders.
“I call on all Muslims to unite and show solidarity in defending the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques, transcending political differences and national borders,” he said.
He also prayed for Allah to continue protecting the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and grant him health and wellbeing.
Zahid further prayed for the protection and guidance of Crown Prince and Saudi Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, as well as the wellbeing of the Saudi people.
“May Allah SWT continue to protect the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, grant it peace, stability and prosperity, and protect the Two Holy Mosques and all the guests of Allah from all threats and harm,” he said. - September 21, 2026
