FORMER prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is currently under observation at the National Heart Institute (IJN) and is resting, said his son Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir.
According to reports, Mokhzani said the 101-year-old was admitted to IJN yesterday.
His long-time aide, Sufi Yusoff, said he was still awaiting updates from the medical team but stressed that there was no cause for concern regarding Dr Mahathir’s condition.
“I know there were some rumours last night that Tun M had fainted, but that was not true. I am not exactly sure what was described, but he did not faint,” he said.
On Monday, Dr Mahathir's wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, passed away at the National Heart Institute (IJN) at the age of 100.
She was accorded a state funeral and laid to rest at the National Mausoleum in Precinct 20, Putrajaya, yesterday evening. - September 30, 2026
