Civil servants will be entitled to up to 490 days of maternity leave throughout their service, up from 360 days, while the minimum monthly pension will increase from RM1,000 to RM1,350 under Budget 2027.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said maternity leave would be extended to a maximum of 98 days per childbirth, with RM20 million allocated to upgrade childcare centres at government facilities.

The increase in the minimum pension is expected to benefit nearly 59,000 retirees, armed forces veterans and recipients of derivative pensions.

Anwar also expressed his appreciation to the country’s 1.6 million civil servants for their dedication and service, acknowledging their role in advancing the nation under the Malaysia Madani agenda. - October 9, 2026
