PAKATAN Harapan (PH) will contest the Nov 14 Melaka state election independently, ruling out any electoral cooperation with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) or other parties.

Melaka DAP chairman Khoo Poay Tiong said the coalition would maintain its position of contesting through its three component parties — DAP, PKR and Amanah — without entering into any political pact.

“We have stated previously that PH will contest on its own with its component parties, comprising DAP, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).

“There will be no cooperation or any form of pact with other parties for the Nov 14 state election,” he told a press conference at the PH Bukit Baru main operations room in Melaka today.

PH chairman and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to announce the coalition's candidates and launch its election machinery at the Hang Jebat Stadium car park at 8.30pm on Saturday.

Khoo said DAP Melaka was seeking to contest eight state seats, including the four it currently holds — Ayer Keroh, Kesidang, Banda Hilir and Kota Laksamana.

The party is also targeting Gadek, Bemban, Pengkalan Batu and Duyong.

The full allocation of seats to be contested by PH will be announced on Saturday, with leaders from all three component parties expected to attend the event. - October 21, 2026
