PANTAI Jerejak assemblyman Fahmi Zainol has sought to distance himself from a fresh domestic violence investigation involving a Penang elected representative, saying the case has nothing to do with him.
“The latest case involving a Penang assemblyman is not me,” he said in a Facebook post today.
His clarification came after Penang police chief Datuk Dennis Lim Kwang Keng said police had received a report alleging that an assemblyman had assaulted his wife.
Lim said investigations were ongoing under Section 323 of the Penal Code, with statements taken from four family members to assist the probe.
Fahmi, however, has previously faced a separate charge involving an alleged assault on his own wife, Nur Hidayah Abd Jabar.
He pleaded not guilty on Feb 27 to voluntarily causing hurt to her in an incident allegedly occurring at a house in Persiaran Pantai Jerejak 11, Bayan Lepas, at about 10pm on Feb 22.
The charge was framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 326A.
Following the charge, Fahmi was suspended from all his positions in PKR pending the court case and removed as a Penang state executive councillor. - November 3, 2026
