PAKATAN Harapan (PH) Melaka has made transparency over a candidate's legal history an election issue, urging Bersama's Ayer Keroh candidate Muhammad Muhaimin Lau Abdullah to explain the latest status of a 2023 court case involving alleged document forgery.
PH Melaka deputy chairman Khoo Poay Tiong said voters were entitled to know the developments in the case before deciding whether to elect Muhammad Muhaimin as their state assemblyman in the Nov 14 Melaka election.
He said the candidate should publicly clarify the matter, which allegedly dates back to his tenure as chief executive officer of a subsidiary of the Melaka state government.
"I believe this refers to the 2023 court case in which the Bersama candidate for Ayer Keroh was charged by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in connection with document forgery.
"As a candidate, he needs to explain to Ayer Keroh voters the latest status of the court case before they make their decision.
"Voters have the right to know the truth about the case," he told a PH daily press conference today.
Also present was PH Melaka chairman Adly Zahari.
Khoo reiterated his call for Muhammad Muhaimin to provide an explanation, saying the matter should be clarified publicly before voters go to the polls. - November 5, 2026
