KUALA LUMPUR – Padang Terap MP Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid’s phone line and WhatsApp number have been “hacked”, said his special officer Aizat Azam.

The Umno warlord and TNB chairman was only aware of the incident at around 10pm yesterday, Aizat said in a statement on Twitter.

“For your information, although Mahdzir switched off his phone and did not use WhatsApp, the application appeared online, which clearly shows that it has been hacked.”

Aizat urged anyone who received an “inappropriate message” from Mahdzir’s phone number to ignore it.

“All messages and replies using that number on WhatsApp did not come from him... just ignore them.”

He said that he has filed reports with police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.

When contacted, Aizat told Malaysiakini that the hacker had shared inappropriate messages to WhatsApp groups that Mahdzir was in.

The messages included a picture of a monkey smoking a cigarette. A number of website links were also shared with the WhatsApp groups.

The hacker also changed Mahdzir's WhatsApp profile picture. – The Vibes, January 19, 2021
