KUALA LUMPUR – Following a physical altercation over a parked helicopter, Datuk Seri Paul Lim has offered his Datuk neighbour a ride when Covid-19 movement restrictions are lifted, as a gesture of goodwill.
Lim, who celebrates his birthday today, told The Vibes that the pair consider their disagreement a thing of the past.
“We are fine now, we have been laughing over it. He stays just five doors away from me, but we didn’t know each other before this.
“Since the incident went viral, he hasn’t returned home. He told me that he is embarrassed, and that many people have been calling and scolding him over his action.
“He said once he is back, he wants to have a drink with me. I will invite him for a ride on my helicopter, too.”
In a video that went viral yesterday, the Datuk was seen confronting Lim at the latter’s house in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong. A fight broke out, with both men hurling profanities and shoving each other.
Lim is heard saying in the clip: “My parking the helicopter here is none of your business. You are only a Datuk, don’t be arrogant.”
A peacemaker then stepped in, asking them to calm down.
Lim said he shoved his neighbour, whom he suspected was drunk, as he was worried that his aircraft would be damaged.
He added that the two-seater helicopter, which will be sent back to his hangar at Subang airport today, was towed to his house on Sunday by a truck he owns through his company, Soong Yuan Carrier and Towing Services Sdn Bhd.
Lim said his intention was to shoot an advertisement for his towing firm, featuring the truck ferrying the chopper, besides having family and friends photograph the aircraft during a small gathering on Wednesday.
He is founder of aviation company Cempaka Desire Fly Sdn Bhd, which owns more than 23 helicopters and provides private charter services, among others.
“Some in the gated community were not happy that I brought my chopper home, so they lodged a police report. However, police found that no crime was committed.
