NILAI – A fire broke out in the buggy storage area of the Seriemas Golf Club here early today, destroying 120 of the vehicles.

Security guard Shamrasizu Shamsuddin said he heard an explosion about 2.30am, and went to investigate along with a colleague.

“There was fire on the ground floor of the building, and it was spreading fast. The area was engulfed in thick smoke,” he told reporters here.

“I informed my supervisor and then called MERS999.”

Negri Sembilan Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said two fire trucks and a water tanker, with 35 firefighters from the Nilai, Mantin and Seremban 2 stations, were deployed.

He said a probe to determine the cause of the blaze and the losses incurred is under way. – Bernama, February 4, 2021
