ALOR STAR – Celebrity preacher and philanthropist Ebit Lew plans to sponsor a warehouse or piece of land to house all the stray dogs and cats belonging to the Pak Mie Shelter.
Ebit, who has been coming to the aid of the less fortunate in recent months, said on his Facebook he felt sorry for the fate that would befall 300 dogs and 130 cats there.
“Pray for it. I want to sponsor a warehouse or buy land for all these dogs and cats.
“I am looking for a warehouse or land around Alor Star,” he said.
Last week, The Vibes reported that the heir of the Pak Mie Shelter, Badirol Hisham Ramli, was at his wits’ end on whether to accept the offer by the authorities – for all the animals at the abandoned animal management centre to be moved to a new place in Jeragan.
This is to make way for the construction project of a regional sewage treatment plant and the Kota Star sewerage pipeline.
Badirol Hisham revealed that the Alor Star City Council (MBAS) made the offer during a joint meeting on February 11 and that it was on condition that all the dogs at the shelter be turned over to MBAS as the new owners.
The offer came a few days after the death of Halijah Idris, fondly known as Mak Intan, of the Pak Mie Shelter, due to Stage Four ovarian cancer on February 10.
