ARAU – Police will not hesitate to take firm action against any party that tries to incite the people by disparaging the use of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Perlis police chief Datuk Surina Saad said police will be monitoring social media to detect any element of anti-vaccine sentiments, though there has been no such case in the state thus far.

“There are numerous news about the vaccine if we look on social media, some are good and some are deprecating it.

“What is important is that the immunisation is safe for use as seen when Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin became the first person to receive the Covid-19 shot.”

She said action could be taken under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code and the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for causing alarm among the public. – Bernama, February 26, 2021
