KUALA LUMPUR – Four names are on the table to lead the joint secretariat overseeing the roll-out of the government’s digital initiatives, sources told The Vibes.

They are senior public officials Anna Amalina Imam Baweh and Fabian Bigar, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation chief strategy officer Fadzli Shah Anuar, and AwanBiru Technology Bhd (Awantec) chief executive Abu Hasan Ismail.

Anna Amalina works at the Communications and Multimedia Ministry while Bigar is attached to the Health Ministry.

These names have been submitted to the Economic Planning Unit for consideration, with Abu Hasan being the sole private sector nominee.

But, in a previous report by The Vibes, insiders had flagged conflict in Abu Hasan’s candidacy as Awantec’s subsidiary, Prestariang Systems Sdn Bhd, has been appointed as a managed service provider to handle cloud services for the government.

The joint secretariat, Strategic Change Management Office (SCMO), is tasked with rolling out change management programmes as a way to drive and increase acceptance of digitalisation across all levels, as part of the government’s ambitious Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint.

SCMO will also be a company limited by guarantee governed by the Ministry of Finance Inc. – The Vibes, March 5, 2021
