KOTA KINABALU – Parti Warisan Sabah’s youth wing has lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) against Sebatik assemblyman Hassan A. Gani Pg Amir following his recent exit from the party.
Its deputy chief Mohd Ismail Ayub said the wing has submitted nine documents along with a photo that “showed clear evidence” of the rep’s recent movements.
“We are confident that this photo is solid evidence to show what happened, and for MACC to proceed with investigations,” said Ismail.
He said this at a press conference after lodging a complaint against Hassan at the MACC office here by submitting nine supporting documents.
The documents include a photo of Hassan; his press statement on February 25 (announcing his immediate exit from the party); his oath of allegiance; his pre-resignation letter to the head of state and state assembly speaker; appointment letter of counsel Adnan Puteh & Saleh; letter of acknowledgment of the speaker receiving his pre-resignation letter dated February 26, 2021; and a video recording of Hassan taking his oath of allegiance to Warisan.
“MACC has received our report, and we leave it to them to conduct the investigation,” he said.
Ismail said that Hassan contested under Warisan for the first time in 2018, but lost to the Barisan Nasional candidate.
He then offered himself as a candidate once again during the state election last year, and submitted his personal details for the consideration of party leaders.
“Warisan leaders then chose him as a candidate, and Hassan had (on September 10, 2020) signed several documents, including an oath of allegiance, appointment letter of counsel Adnan Puteh & Saleh, and pre-resignation letter to the head of state and state assembly speaker.
“Hassan signed the documents without any force or pressure from any party. He read the oath and this was recorded on video. In the video, we could see that he was not forced or threatened in any way,” he said.
Ismail said that he respects the speaker’s decision to reject the pre-signed resignation letter, but Warisan will still take action in accordance with the law.
Hassan announced his departure from the party on February 25 and voiced support for ruling coalition Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, as well as the leadership of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Md Noor – both of whom are Bersatu men. – The Vibes, March 5, 2021
