IPOH – Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming is looking for redemption, with the state chapter eyeing eight parliamentary and 20 state seats in the 15th general election after several of its leaders defected last year.

In his speech at the chapter’s convention here today, he said the party will make this request to its Pakatan Harapan partners, in the hope of regaining seats “stolen” by Perikatan Nasional.

“We will request state Amanah chairman Datuk Asmuni Awi and state PKR chairman Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak to give away the seats, allowing us to contest and win back the government.

“We hope to get the blessing of the PH presidential council as well.”

Asmuni told The Vibes that talks on seats will be held at the party’s office in Jalan Greentown here next week.

“Seat distribution has yet to be discussed (formally).”

Preferably, Amanah and PKR should defend the seats they won in 2018, with the rest given to those who have a better shot at winning, he said.

In the 2018 general election, the state chapter contested and won seven parliamentary and 18 state seats.

Last year, it sacked three assemblymen, namely Paul Yong (Tronoh), A. Sivasubramaniam (Buntong) and Leong Cheok Keng (Malim Nawar).

The state assembly comprises 25 Barisan Nasional reps, DAP (16), Amanah (5), Bersatu (7), PAS and PKR (3 each). – The Vibes, March 14, 2021
