KUALA LUMPUR – Selangor DAP does not discount working with Umno based on the principles of the Pakatan Harapan coalition, said its vice-chairman Ng Suee Lim.

He told Sinar Harian that in the current uncertain political situation, nothing is impossible, including cooperation between DAP and Umno.

“There are rumours or speculations (on the current political situation) on cooperation or negotiations (between Umno and DAP).

“For me, in politics all is possible and we in DAP are not taking the hostile approach forever,” he was quoted as saying yesterday.

Lim, who is also Sekinchan assemblyman, said DAP is ready to negotiate not only with Umno but other parties as long as it is within the framework of PH’s struggles.

“In my view, we (DAP) have no problem being friends with any political party.”

However, he said, it is too early to confirm any possibilities of a cooperation or otherwise.

“We emphasise that any form of discussion or cooperation must have principles that align with our struggles over the years.”

Asked about the impact of a Umno-DAP cooperation, he said the cooperation would have a big impact on the country’s political landscape.

“If this is possible, either Umno-DAP, or Umno-PH, it will be able to address several issues such as stabilising the political situation.

“It is likely that these issues will subside and we can focus on economic development.” – The Vibes, March 24, 2021
