MIRI – Sarawak today saw two new Covid-19 clusters, one each here and in Serian.
The state recorded 213 fresh infections, while its virus death toll remains 101.
The two new clusters are Lorong Desa Senadin here, in the state’s north, and Batu Gong in the southern district of Serian.
“The cluster in Desa Senadin involves 30 cases at the maritime training centre,” said the state Disaster Management Committee secretariat in a statement.
“Active screening is being done, and 84 people are still awaiting their results.
“The cluster in Serian involves 50 infections among villagers of a resettlement scheme.
“Another 300 people are awaiting their results.”
With the latest clusters, there are now 33 active ones across Sarawak.
The secretariat added that 250 coronavirus patients have been discharged from hospitals.
Of the fresh cases, Bintulu district recorded 46, Miri (39), Sibu (35), Kuching and Serian (23 each), Kapit (14), Samarahan (11) and other districts (fewer than 10).
Starting Monday, said the secretariat, the enhanced movement control order will be implemented in Kg Chupak and Kg Batu Gong to curb the spread of the disease.
It said the conditional movement control order imposed statewide, which was supposed to end next Monday, has been extended to April 12 in view of the high daily caseloads. – The Vibes, March 26, 2021
