PUTRAJAYA – The Communications and Multimedia Ministry may need the assistance of external authorities to complete the investigation into indecent posts by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s (MCMC) Twitter account, said Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.

The minister said a special committee has conducted an in-depth probe, but faces constraints as some of the individuals allegedly involved in the matter are no longer working with MCMC.

“I have seen the report. The committee has carried out a comprehensive and in-depth investigation.

“However, the committee faces some challenges, as some of the people allegedly involved are no longer working with MCMC, and the committee has no jurisdiction to investigate them.

“So, I have instructed the ministry’s secretary-general, Datuk Seri Mohammad Mentek, to look into the possibility of seeking help from authorities outside the ministry to resolve this problem,” he told the media after a virtual engagement session with leading technology companies, namely Google, Microsoft, Facebook and Amazon, here today.
