KOTA KINABALU - Sabah’s local government and housing minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun will now assume the role of the state government’s official spokesperson on Covid-19. 

He said he was appointed to assume the role by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor until he returns to work. 

Hajiji is currently undergoing treatment for Covid-19 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. 

“Yes, the CM has appointed me the official govt spokesperson on Covid-19 until he returns to work,” he told The Vibes. 

In a statement today, the state government said it has distributed 5,134 food baskets, since October 9, to areas under the targeted enhanced movement control order (Temco), namely Lahad Datu (1,150), Semporna (2,431), Kunak (553) and Tawau ( 1,000). 

The distribution of food baskets to areas under the condition movement control order (CMCO) will begin on October 12. 

Districts in Kota Kinabalu, Putatan, Penampang, Sandakan, Tuaran and Papar are currently under CMCO. 

Yesterday, the state government announced it has received 6,300 food baskets from the federal government. 

Kunak received 1,000, Semporna (1,000), Lahad Datu (1,500), Sandakan (1,500), Tawau (1,000) dan Kota Kinabalu (300). 

The distribution was coordinated by the Welfare Community Department and implemented by the State Welfare Department. – The Vibes, October 11, 2020.
