GEORGE TOWN – Penang police nabbed 25 people, including three foreigners, who were in an entertainment centre that was operating despite the movement control order.

The team led by Asst Supt Norirwan Shah raided the centre at the Midlands Complex on Burma Road yesterday.

“Of the 25 people arrested, 21 were men, while the women consisted of one local and three foreigners. Six of the men were workers at the entertainment centre,” he said.

Norirwan added that all six tested positive for drugs.

The case is investigated under the Infectious Disease Act, the Immigration Act and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.

Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Soffian Santong advised the public to not be engaged in any activities which can be seen as a gathering.

“The police will act if any form of the lock down is ignored,” he said. – The Vibes, May 15, 2021
