PUTRAJAYA – Malaysia has recorded 660 new Covid-19 cases as of noon today, the second highest daily tally since the pandemic’s third wave hit country 23 days ago.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in his press briefing today said six new clusters have been detected in Sabah (Semarak, Bina, Sabindo, Bestari), Selangor (Bah Kenangan) and Penang (Jawi).
Of the 660 new cases, two are imported from India and Nepal, which were detected in Labuan and Kuala Lumpur, respectively.
The bulk local today’s cases come from Sabah (443), followed by Selangor (76), Kedah (60), Penang (23), Labuan (18), Perak (16), Johor (10), Kuala Lumpur (nine), Negri Sembilan (two) and one from Pahang.
Four new fatalities are also recorded today, bringing the total death toll in Malaysia to 163.
As for recovered cases, today’s figure stands at 350, totalling to 11,372.
Yesterday’s new cases was recorded at 563.
Dr Noor Hisham has assured Sabahans that the ministry has enough face masks and PPEs to be distributed to hospitals there.
On the extension of the conditional movement control order (CMCO) imposed on Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, he said it is too early to tell.
“It is too soon to confirm or make a projection if the CMCO will be extended. But this method has been proven to help flatten the infection curve in the past.
