Volunteers to register seniors for AstraZeneca jab sought: Selangor virus task force member

KUALA LUMPUR – A member of the Selangor Task Force Covid-19 has issued a call for volunteers to help senior citizens register for the AstraZeneca vaccine come Sunday.

Dr Helmi Zakaria, in a tweet, also asked if the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKJAV) can help with registering his list of more than 5,000 seniors.

“Calling all digital army volunteers to help me book a slot for Senior Citizens aged 60 and above for their vaccine. Drop me a DM. I got a list of >5k elderly with IT-literacy. From d last mad rush exp, i sempat book for 10 of them only.

“Can’t I just give this ‘elderly yg buta IT’ list to you ke @JKJAVMY ? Any way we can do batch upload? Because it reeks of health inequity when life saving meds can only be reached by those yang ‘celik IT’.”

Helmi is also creator of Selangor’s Selangkah contact-tracing app.

The government will open bookings for the AstraZeneca jab exclusively for those aged 60 and over in the Klang Valley, Johor, Sarawak and Penang from Sunday until May 26.

Bookings will be open to those below 60 after May 26.

Putrajaya has announced another delivery of more than 1.1 million AstraZeneca vaccines.

The first phase of the AstraZeneca jab opt-in programme was launched on May 2, making available 268,600 doses to individuals in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. – The Vibes, May 21, 2021
