SELANGOR will bring together industry leaders, technology firms and policymakers from across ASEAN in October as the state seeks to strengthen its position in advanced manufacturing and technology-driven investment.
The Selangor Techsphere Summit 2026, scheduled from Oct 14 to 17 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, will focus on key industrial issues including artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductor development, automation and smart manufacturing.
The four-day event is organised by the Selangor state government in collaboration with the Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre and will be held as part of the Selangor International Business Summit 2026.
Among the speakers confirmed for the summit are Alex Capri, a former US Treasury Department official and analyst on geopolitics and techno-nationalism, and Federation of Malaysian Manufacturing (FMM) president Jacob Lee Chor Kok.
The summit comes as manufacturers across the region face increasing pressure to improve productivity, strengthen supply chains and adapt to rapid technological changes.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said closer cooperation between the government and industry would be crucial as businesses navigate changes in technology, sustainability and global supply chains.
“Selangor has established itself as one of Malaysia’s most important industrial and investment destinations.”
“As manufacturers respond to rapid developments in technology, sustainability and global supply chains, it is important that the government and industry work together to create the conditions for continued innovation and growth,” he said.
The summit will feature discussions across four areas — AI and the digital economy, semiconductors and microelectronics, green technology and smart automation, as well as governance, talent development and TVET 4.0.
Hannover Fairs Asia-Pacific senior commercial director Mike Nissen said industrial transformation was no longer limited to adopting new technologies but required businesses to align technology, investment and workforce capabilities.
“Industrial transformation is no longer simply about adopting individual technologies. It requires manufacturers to align technology, people, investment and long-term business strategy,” he said.
The summit will also include technology showcases, business meetings and networking sessions involving manufacturers, investors, researchers and technology providers.
The previous edition in 2025 attracted 1,535 participants, 21 exhibitors and 39 speakers from more than 15 countries.
Organisers said the 2026 summit aims to provide a platform for industry players to discuss practical solutions and partnerships as ASEAN economies compete to attract technology investment and expand their industrial capabilities. - August 11, 2026
