AN individual’s claim that water contaminated with pig waste is flowing into Sungai Bukit Lagong in Batu Caves, prompting warnings for the public to avoid bathing in the area, has drawn significant attention.
In a post, a user identified as 'Pilotvvip' alleged that pig farming activities upstream are causing waste-contaminated water to flow into the river.
More alarmingly, the individual claimed that residents had already lodged complaints with the local authorities, yet no action has been taken.
“Do not bathe in Sungai Bukit Lagong; someone is raising pigs upstream, and pig waste is entering the river. Residents have already reported it, but the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) has failed to take action; it’s as if the officials themselves have been bribed!” he stated, as reported by Kosmo!
However, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari responded by stating that a review of drone imagery captured by the MPS revealed no evidence of the alleged pig farming activities.
“I checked yesterday and reviewed the drone footage obtained by the MPS; no pig farming activities as alleged were found. Instead, two instances of cattle farming were detected.
“I have requested that the MPS conduct a physical site visit for verification,” he said.
Meanwhile, he has urged the individual who made the allegations to come forward with any relevant evidence or information, which would enable further action to be taken. – October 31, 2026
