SEREMBAN – Celebrity Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor today spent an hour at the Seremban Police headquarters to give her statement over allegations she did not wear a mask while presenting herself at the Seremban court complex here last Thursday.
Neelofa, 32, arrived at the police headquarters at 10.10am, accompanied by her husband, Muhammad Haris Mohd Ismail and two lawyers.
To the awaiting reporters, Neelofa said she fully cooperated with the police investigating the case.
Meanwhile, Seremban police chief Mohd Said Ibrahim confirmed that she was cooperative and adhered to the set Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) when she came to give her statement today.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 269 of the Penal Code and Regulation 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) 2021.
In a statement last Friday, he said a police report was lodged claiming that the 32-year-old celebrity did not wear a mask at the court, which is a rule that applies to all, including those who wear a niqab.
This came after pictures that went viral online showed the celebrity apparently unmasked beneath her niqab when arriving at the court compound on Thursday.
On that day, Neelofa and Haris pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court here with violating SOPs under the conditional movement control order (CMCO) at a carpet shop in Nilai on May 2. – Bernama, May 24, 2021
