KUALA LUMPUR – Nearly one million doses of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine will be made available for booking by those aged below 60 at noon tomorrow, said Khairy Jamaluddin.

The bookings are open to individuals residing in Johor, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang and Sarawak, and can be made here.

Round 2 of the opt-in programme that opened on Sunday and was initially made available only to those above 60 saw only 228,347 slots taken up.

Khairy, who is science, technology and innovation minister, said there are 1.2 million doses of the AstraZeneca jab available under Round 2.

Round 1 offered 268,000 doses to Klang Valley residents.

Khairy added that another two vaccination centres will be opened in Kuala Lumpur: Mitec in Jalan Duta on May 31, and Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil on June 7.

He said appointments at four other vaccination centres around the capital will be transferred to these two new “mega-sized” ones, so as to boost recipients’ comfort and safety.

Appointments from May 31 to June 6 at the Manjalara community hall and Titiwangsa Stadium vaccination centres will be moved to Mitec, he said.

Appointments at the Desa Tasik community hall and Muhibbah community complex, meanwhile, will be shifted to the Axiata Arena.

“All appointments at the Axiata Arena are new ones. There will be no more appointments scheduled at the earlier two centres,” said Khairy. – The Vibes, May 25, 2021
