BUKIT MERTAJAM – Police have obtained a seven-day remand against a 45-year-old factory technician for alleged incest.

The order was issued by magistrates’ court registrar Hasliza Razak.

Seberang Prai Tengah district police chief Shafee Abd Samad yesterday said the suspect was nabbed about 4.30pm near Bukit Tengah.

The man, who works at a multinational company in Bayan Lepas, George Town, is accused of sexually assaulting his daughter since she was 6 years old.

The victim, now 18 and working as a shop assistant, lodged a police report at the Bukit Tengah station on Tuesday.

She did not lodge a report earlier as she did not want her parents to get a divorce, and for fear of her father’s retaliation.

She said she is also traumatised by the horrific, years-long ordeal of her father raping and sodomising her.

The teenager said she would be sexually assaulted when her mother was asleep.

The case is being investigated under Section 376B of the Penal Code for incest.

The suspect faces a jail term of between 10 and 30 years, and liable to whipping, upon conviction. – The Vibes, May 29, 2021
