KOTA KINABALU – Action has been taken to allow aviation workers to be inoculated against Covid-19 soon, following an online petition on the matter.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong said he has spoken to Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin about concerns over unvaccinated aviation personnel.

“Action is done. Spoken to KJ and it is in the pipeline,” he told The Vibes in a brief WhatsApp message.

However, he did not say when the vaccination exercise will be rolled out.

The Change.org petition started by ninermike9M, a group comprising aircraft maintenance professionals, last night called on the Transport Ministry to expedite the immunisation of airline personnel.

It said such personnel are disappointed at not being included among the earliest groups in the country to receive the coronavirus vaccine.

Questions have been raised over the possibility of airports being shut down in the event of an outbreak.
