KOTA KINABALU – The number of Covid-19 infections Sabah continue to spike in the state due to the mass house-to-house contract tracing done by health authorities at enhanced lockdown localities.

The number of new cases hit a new daily high of 378 cases today, up 69 cases from yesterday’s 309 cases.

The state Disaster Management Committee for Covid-19 daily reports revealed most of the new cases are in Kudat in the northern part of Sabah with 79 new cases, up from yesterday’s 48.

The cluster is believed to caused by a thanksgiving ceremony held in Kg Kadazan near Ambar Park and health authorities found 15 more cases after screening 45 close contacts.

In Nabawan, an engagement party held in Kg Indah here had been the cause for the Indah cluster.

The index case involved a 34-year-old woman who had been found positive on May 22 after she was screened while undergoing an early treatment procedure.

Health authorities found 20 more positive cases thereafter after screening 124 contacts.
